A Great Mythical Combat

Many centuries ago, 3 mythical beasts ingaged in mortal combat (not the video game) in the skies above. The 3 creatures were the dragon, the gryphon and the chimera.

The dragon used its fire and ability to fly to crushing effect, while the chimera looked in all directions at once with its many heads, appearing an invincible foe. The gryphon watched the 2, seeking its strengths and weaknesses. At last it engaged in combat. Using its wit and intelligence it lured the dragon into the depth of the ocean where its fire was extinguished and there, it was defeated. Burrowing through the Earth beneath the chimera, he attacked it from the one direction it never would have imagined. The chimera never recovered and thus was defeated. In this way, a creature thought to be smaller and weaker than its adversaries won a great battle.
